EDNA MAE HINGER: I grew up on a ranch west of Riverside. From a young teenager, I played either the guitar or piano with a couple of small dance bands.
I played accordion and sang with the 49’ers for sixteen years, starting when I was seventeen, and we played all over the area, including Riverside, Winthrop, Osooyos, Wenatchee, Coulee City, but I think the most remembered hall was Maple Hall.
Upon retirement after 25 years at the PUD I started doing singalongs at rest homes in the area and have done that regularly at least 5 times a month for thirty years. I’d have to say I receive more enjoyment playing rest homes of anything I have done. I am an active member of the United Methodist Church at Conconully, commonly called the Little White Church.
MIKE LIU: Currently district ranger on the Methow Valley Ranger District with over 30 years working for the Forest Service in places like Colorado, Alaska, California, Montana, Idaho, Washington and upstate New York. Immigrated to the US when I was 5 years old, I am a Gideon and have been involved in oversees mission work in places like Honduras, Pakistan, and Southeast Asia. I am a lay minister who enjoys teaching and sharing from God’s word.
LOOSE CHANGE: Kathy Peterson’s gospel band, originally formed in 1997. She’s been playing the 12-string and singing gospel music for over 40 years. Her Appalachian roots really show up in the selection, arrangements, and performance of the latest Loose Change play list. The group released a CD as a fundraiser for Christians In Action, http://www.theloosechangegospelband.com. She’s also written a book, Fish Tales, about her years in Alaska.
Married to Rod Peterson for almost 50 years she’s retired from the USDA Forest Service with 20 years of service in the Methow Valley, and now resides in Aguanga, CA.
Other members of the band are Brenda Behrent, Omak, Lyn Pearce, Riverside, and April Garbat-Vaughan, Whittier, CA.
